2009 RULES AND REGULATIONS
FOR
MEMBERSHIP AND BOAT STORAGE

1.  Membership in SSBA is limited to residents of the Town of Stonington. A resident is defined as "anyone who resides within the Town, regardless of how long that person has resided or intends to reside within the Town." A resident may be permanent, temporary (e.g. summer), or transient.

2.  All members are required to maintain insurance, and show proof thereof, for each boat stored in the SSBA compound. Manufacturer's hull number must be included on the application.

3.  Membership stickers for the current year must be affixed to the hull by June 2, 2009.

4.  Boats newly purchased, or those belonging to new members, must have sticker on the boat before placing it in the storage area.

5.  Boats found in the storage area after June 3 without a current sticker will be removed from the area. Any boats unclaimed after 30 days will become property of the SSBA, and disposed of.

6.  Each boat owner is responsible for keeping the area around his boat and the SSBA grounds litter-free.

7.  When a boat has been placed in an assigned location, it may not be moved to a new location without permission from the SSBA.

8.  Boat storage is limited to the number of assigned spaces. In the event that the storage area becomes filled, a list will be established until additional space becomes available.

9.  No boats are to be stored on the beach, or outside the SSBA storage area, as defined by the fenced-in compound.

10. No trailers are allowed in the storage area.

11. Boats powered by outboard motor are not acceptable. The maximum weight of boats stored in the SSBA area shall not exceed 300 pounds.

12. Storage and membership fees are not refundable.

13. The SSBA compound shall not be used for any commercial enterprises.

14. Any boat stored on a ground space shall be stored on its own dolly.

15. All kayaks and any boats on top racks to be secured against wind with line or bungee cords.

16. Boats stored between November 1st and April 1st must be demasted and properly stored for the winter.

17. Kayaks should be removed out of season to avoid possible disappearance.

18. Failure by any member to comply with any of these rules may result in the forfeiture of their membership in SSBA, and forfeiture of all rights and privileges thereof. This includes unstepping a mast by November 1st.
